CNTA (Centre National de Technologie Agroalimentaire) is Burundi's only applied research institute working in the field of agricultural and food technology.

CNTA seeks to improve traditional post-harvest methods and the use of semi-industrial methods of food processing. To meet the needs of the population and to ensure it works in parallel with the national agricultural production programme, CNTA uses appropriate technology approaches.

As an associate in the Aval Fonio project, CNTA is collaborating in Work Package 1, presenting the post-harvest system for finger millet in Burundi, and is participating in meetings and workshops in Work Package 2, to verify to what extent technologies for the threshing and cleaning of fonio can be adapted to finger millet.
