The Institut des Régions Chaudes (IRC) brings together all the courses offered within Montpellier SupAgro on the themes of agriculture, rural development and food processing industries applied to tropical and sub-tropical regions. It is part of the tradition of cooperation with developing countries and maintains close partnerships with research organisations and agricultural higher education institutes.

As an associate in the Aval Fonio project, IRC SupAgro is attending meetings and workshops in Work Package 4 and contributing to the project through its expertise in an anthropological approach to techniques and knowledge in the processing of fonio.
