The mission on “fonio drying” carried out (3-7 August 2013) by the ESP-UCAD (C.M.F. Kébé, M. Cissé and N. Ayessou) was an opportunity to meet fonio processing women's groups in Salemata, a village in Bassari country in the south Niokolo Koba Park, and in Kedougou, capital of “Sénégal Oriental. In Kédougou, the mission met the Koba Club Association who had attended the kick off meeting of the Aval Fonio project in Dakar in April 2013.

In Kayes (Mali), the mission met with the NGO “ Grenier du paysan”, which produces precooked fonio for the local market and for export (brand name Ethiquable). The NGO has built a greenhouse dryer like the greenhouse dryer of UCODAL (in Bamako) but smaller. The mission can chat with users about the interest of this type of dryer.
